We take a moment to remember our alumni teammate, Katie Mullen, who passed away last week. Our thoughts and prayers go to the Mullen family, who have been very involved with North Metro over the years.
Katie Mullen was not just a member of our soccer team. She was a center mid, team captain, and holder of the team juggling record (over 300 touches). She would wait for the perfect shot, despite the frantic yells from the sidelines; she liked her goals to be pretty.
Ask any member of the team and they will have memories to share and stories to tell. Mullen loved soccer. She made it fun to coach, fun to play alongside her, and exciting to watch. Win or lose, at the end of the day, if she was with her friends she was where she wanted to be. She will always be one of our girls.
A fund has been set up to support scholarships for summer camp opportunities at the YMCA Camp Guy Robinson. Donations in honor of Katie may be made at: https://katie-mullen-tribute.everydayhero.com/us/KM
Our thoughts go to the Mullens and all of our NMSA families that were touched by Katie's bright smile and kind spirit. She will be missed by many.
